Cleaner Air, Safer Planet
ToughStuff products eliminate the need to burn kerosene in the home, reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and other noxious fumes. Kerosene lamps give off 24.2 million tonnes of CO2 each year, contributing to climate change, which is affecting the poorest most acutely. Over the next 5 years ToughStuff aims to save over 2 million tonnes of CO2.
Uncontaminated Land
An average family in the developing world uses 200 D-Cell batteries every year to power electrical appliances. Most of these are improperly disposed of in informal landfills leading to catastrophic contamination of land and water supplies. ToughStuff prevent the purchase and disposal of 300 million batteries in five years.
